Beach Day (Lignano)

May 23

Today we were going to go to Lignano beach with a group of people. But also of course the whole week it was scorching hot and the one day we wanted to go it was overcast out. But that didn't discourage us from going.

The beach is about an hour drive from Aviano. Another thing that is nice about this beach is if you do have a dog you are allowed to bring them on certain parts of this beach. Also, there is parking really close to the part of the beach we went too.

We stayed on the beach for a little just playing and hanging out. Wish it was a little warmer but for me it was nice to be on a beach again! :) I missed it!

We did see a lot of jelly fish, some crabs and some clams around where we were. Some of the jelly fish were huge!!

After spending some time on the beach, it was time for some gelato! We walked a little further down where the main strip of shops and restaurants were and got some gelato. Can't go to the beach without getting some kind of ice cream or in this case gelato! :)

We then walked a little further down the beach to try and find a volleyball court to play on. At this beach they have lounge chairs and umbrellas all lined up for you to rent. I thought it was very interesting that they don't want you to bring your own stuff but use theirs. We finally found an empty court and played for about an hour. Good little workout for all of us!

Time to find some food!! There are so many different places to eat on the main strip in Lignano. We basically stopped at the first good looking and not too expensive place we saw. At least they had enough table space to put all of us together since there were 11 of us there. Since we were close to the water I decided I wanted some seafood for dinner. I got calamari. Which here they do not serve with marinara sauce like they do back in that states. It was really interesting and kinda funny for me to try and ask for it. At first they thought I said mayonnaise and brought me that, then they brought me tarter sauce and then finally they brought me their "red sauce" (like the sauce they put on pizza) but it was cold. But it was better than nothing. I have to get used to all the different things they do in Italy.

It was nice just getting to chill for a while at the ristorante/pizzeria. But after we were done we all wonder up and down the main strip looking at all the different and unique stores they had. There was almost any and ever type of store. From baby clothes, to lingerie, to toys and games and of course plenty of gelateria. Here gelaterias are like Starbucks back home, there on almost every corner. I liked being able to just walk up and down slowly taking in all the differences they have with their stores here.
