Skiing in Cortina, Italy

Saturday, February 7

This weekend Preston, Bryce and I decided to go skiing in Cortina, Italy, which is in the Dolomiti Alps. We had been told by a few people that this place is perfect to learn to ski, which is great for Preston and Bryce since this will only be their second time skiing.

Since Cortina is only about 2 and a half hours from our house we decided to make it a day trip. When we got closer it looked like we were driving through  a "Winter Wonderland", it was beautiful!!

(Can start to see the light!)

At first when we got to Cortina it was a little difficult to find out where you can park and purchase your lift tickets. We asked someone and got a map with directions to a parking lot but somehow we got deviated/passed where we should of stopped  and kept going up the mountain. I think it was just meant to be for us, because the place we ended up parking at was the perfect spot for us. We could just ski down from our car to the chair lift and purchase our passes there.

The snow was perfect this day!! We couldn't have asked for better skiing conditions. Sunny with hardly any clouds.

We skied down got our passes then went back up and stopped at the bar/restaurant up there and each got a drink. I thought I would start the day off right with a glass of wine. ;) Now we were ready to ski the day away!

I thought I was going to have to help Preston and Bryce a lot more than I did, but they picked it up so fast this time with just a little bit of help from me as they would ski down. Plus, the slopes here at Cortina were perfect and a lot of fun to just fly down.

(He made it down the red!!)

After skiing for a while we had to stop and take a break/eat lunch. We ended up at another bar/restaurant we found on the mountain. We ended up sitting outside since it was beautiful out and not too cold. Along with the normal bread basket, I ended up getting more wine, a 1/2 liter, to be exact and then fettuccine with mushrooms, duck meat and sauce. Preston ended up getting a spinach pasta. Both of us really enjoyed our lunches.

Back to skiing! And enjoying to the amazing views!!

Today couldn't have been more perfect!! Preston got so much better at skiing and the weather was perfect, which made the snow even better to ski on! :)
