Skiing in Cortina

Saturday, March 19

For the last ski trip of the season we decided to go to Cortina. We needed to make sure that this place was still one of the best places to go. Last year this is where Preston and Bryce feel in love with skiing, so were hoping it still does that same. Sadly Bryce couldn't come with us, so it was just the 3 of us, Preston, Jacob and I.

The nice thing about Cortina, is that it is only about 2 hours away from our house.

We were probably the luckiest people ever with how perfect the weather was for our last ski trip this season! It was clear blue skis, not a cloud in sight!

Time to test out these slopes again! But first, we had to take pictures at the top to show how beautiful it was!

(Pretending Bryce is missing from the picture)

Time to ski!

This time we started at the opposite side of the mountain than last year. This was nice because last year we didn't even make it to this side since Preston and Bryce were still trying to learn how to ski and also not hate it.

I love how many different slopes you can choose to go down on European mountains. Always keep it entertaining! Also, it is nice that the slopes are not only 30 seconds or so, some of them after looking at my GoPro, we were skiing for at least 8 minutes straight or more. Definitely a leg workout!!

We skied for a little bit but then decided to stop at one of the bars/restaurants to get a drink and relax for a minute, while enjoying the amazing view!

Back to skiing with the clear blue skies!

After skiing for a few hours it was time for lunch.

The next slope we went down, we were going to go to the closest restaurant. Which actually ended up being a good choice.

We were lucky this time, it was not super crowded and packed like every other time we tried to eat lunch after skiing.

I ended up getting tortellini with speck and a cream sauce. You almost can never go wrong with this dish. And of course my usual drink, prosecco.

(View from our table at lunch)

After lunch is always the hardest to start skiing again, as you are so relaxed and stuffed from the delicious food. But eventually we always get our feet back under us and feel awake again.

We ended up skiing until about 4pm, which is about when they start to close down the chairlifts. I will say this was a perfect way to end this year's ski season. Perfect weather, perfect slopes and probably the first time ever, no "bad" things happened. :)

Can't wait until the next ski season! But I am also really glad beach season is upon us!

Skiing in Civetta

Saturday, February 27

Another skiing weekend! This time a day trip to see how Civetta is. This place is only about 2 hours away, not too bad of a drive. And as usual it was the 4 of us, Preston, Bryce, Jacob and I.

On the drive up it was nice to have it actually be somewhat light out at the time we left, as it is usually still really dark out. This I think made the drive a little easier for Preston.

Once we arrived, it was a little different on where to get your lift tickets. If you weren't paying attention you would have to turn around and walk back down towards one of the parking lots to purchase one. Also this place was a little different than some of the other ski places we've been too. As this one only has one main gondola going up.

Once we made it up the first gondola we noticed all different restaurants and places we could go to later on or in case we don't find some where else to eat at for lunch.

(Restaurants at the starting point)
Also at the starting point you could choose from a few different chairlifts to go up to different levels of the mountain. We took the one that went all the way up to the top of the mountain. I know I say it every time but it never gets old how beautiful it is at the top of these mountains! I'm glad we got there when we did though because it started to get really cloudy and slightly foggy later on.

(Going up to the top of the mountain)
After skiing down a few hills, we found a bar to stop at to get a drink and relax a little.

(Delicious Prosecco)
Then back to skiing.

(Changing up the angle of the photo, still beautiful with the clouds)
We skied a about another 2 hours before we decided we wanted to stop for lunch.

We found this restaurant at the bottom of one of the runs and it ended up being perfect because every other place we passed was packed but this one was not bad at all. There were actually 2 sides to this restaurant. You could do the quick service, with the already made sandwiches, toasts and brioches or you could sit on the side with service. We ended up choosing the service side as we were kinda hungry and wanted a little something more than a sandwich.

I wish I had taken a picture of my food because it was delicious! I love pumpkin foods, so whenever I see it on the menu, most likely I will order it. I got the pumpkin ravioli. The plate was huge but it was so good I couldn't stop eating it. I was super stuffed when I finished, but it was worth it!

I'm glad we sat there for a little after eating before going out to ski again because I was so full I couldn't move.

Back to skiing.

It slowly started to get more and more foggy out. At one point we made it to the top of the chairlift and I took a picture of the mountain, as you could only see the very top of it in-between the clouds. We decided to go back up the same chairlift and when we got to the top, you could no longer see the mountain. It was getting cloudy super fast!

(Mountain that disappeared in the clouds by the time we came back up)
(Have to keep my face warm!)

We ended up skiing for about another 2.5 hours. All of us became super tired, even before the slopes were supposed to close. Plus it was getting a little too foggy out for us. Since we were actually leaving at a decent time, a little before 4, we would have time to go home and shower before going out to dinner. As we usually show up a disaster in our ski clothes that we wore all day. Another reason why we love going to BeFEDS after because it is more "relaxed" than other Italian restaurants, we would probably get looks, like why would they come in public like that.

I'm sure you can guess where we ended up going for dinner, even after showering and changing our clothes...BeFEDS! Their chicken is just too addicting! And especially their chicken sauce!

I would say this was another successful day of skiing! I don't want ski season to end!
